There is nothing here yet...but there will be. A recent event in my engineering career has lit a fire and showed me a gap in myself. I need to put myself out there more and share my knowledge (even if no one reads it).

This blog will not have long posts about the merits of one technology versus another and it probably won't have the latest bleeding-edge information about the newest technology that the internet is talking about. Instead, it will chronicle my everyday trials and tribulations in software.

A bit about me...

Currently, I am what some might call a "dark matter" developer. I work for a large corporation, 3M in their Health Information Systems division. My position includes: creating and maintaining robust software components that categorize hospital patient and event data according to various case statistics and demographic information. The work I do is important and has large impact on the healthcare system in the United States (and around the world), in fact, the software that I am the lead engineer calculates over 30 billion dollars of healthcare payment each year. In addition to software components that propel my division forward, I create tools for use by Quality Analysts and Clinical Analysts to certify and create clinical content that is used within our software components.

That may be interesting to some but my goal is to break out of the "dark matter" role. I want to be working in relevant technologies. I want to "master" a domain and/or language and be more of an expert rather than a "Jack of all trades". Hopefully, this blog will be a tool to help me move out of the dark corners of corporate America.
